How We Bill
Basis Theory bills customers based on the number of tokens stored in their vault. This page explains what a token is, how token usage is counted, and how billing works.
What is Basis Theory’s Standard Pricing?
Our standard platform fee is $995/month for 20,000 tokens stored in your vault per calendar month. Any additional tokens are charged at a rate of $0.05 per token. The platform fee is charged at the beginning of the month and any overages are charged at the end of the month.
What is a Token?
A token is any item stored in a vault within a tenant. This includes all token types, such as:
- Credit Cards
- Network Tokens
- Payment tokens from Google Pay and Apple Pay
- Any other tokens created or stored through the Basis Theory platform
If it lives in your vault, it counts as a token.
How Token Usage is Counted
We count the total number of tokens stored at any point within a calendar month.
- Token counts are not rounded.
- Customers are only billed overages for token counts above the vault size included in their plan.
- If tokens are added and later deleted within the same month, they are still counted towards token totals for that month.

Adding tokens

Viewing Your Token Count
Customers can see the number of tokens currently stored in their vault in the Admin Portal.
